Custom GPT Creation Has Changed
OpenAI says new GPT creation and publishing are unavailable on personal ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus and Pro accounts. Existing GPTs remain available, while creation, editing and publishing in Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces depend on workspace settings and permissions.
GPTs themselves are designed to work inside ChatGPT—not as a way to embed ChatGPT directly in an external website or application.
That makes the distinction clearer: an assistant inside ChatGPT and an AI asset you deploy yourself are two different things.

What to Know Before You Build
Are Custom GPTs being discontinued?
No. Existing GPTs remain available. OpenAI says new GPT creation and publishing are unavailable on personal ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus and Pro accounts. In Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces, creation, editing and publishing depend on workspace settings and permissions.
Is Astrabotix a Custom GPT replacement?
Not exactly. They serve different delivery roles. Custom GPTs are tailored experiences used inside ChatGPT. Astrabotix turns prompts, knowledge and workflows into AI Apps and AI Bots that can be packaged in Launchpads or embedded on permitted external websites.
Can I turn an existing Custom GPT into an Astrabotix AI Bot?
Yes. Upload a .md or .txt GPT build document—or paste its contents—and Astrabotix will extract the supported configuration for review. Confirm the settings and warnings to create an AI Bot, which then opens in the standard builder.
Can I embed an Astrabotix AI tool on my own website?
Yes. AI Apps and AI Bots can be placed on permitted external websites using embeds, with allowed-domain checks, per-minute rate limits and optional lifetime usage limits where configured.
Do users need ChatGPT to use my Astrabotix AI tool?
No ChatGPT account is required by Astrabotix itself. The experience runs through the supported AI provider account connected by the Astrabotix owner. Access can still depend on how the owner configures the website or Launchpad.
What does the GPT importer transfer?
The importer extracts the GPT name, description, instructions, persona, conversation starters, model and supported capabilities from a build document. V1 safely maps supported models and Web Search while warning about unsupported capabilities. It does not transfer GPT Actions or knowledge files; referenced files must be added through a Knowledge Hub after import.
Can I sell access directly through Astrabotix?
Not currently. Continue using your external checkout and delivery process. Native payment collection and automatic payment-to-access provisioning are not part of Astrabotix V1; Launchpad owners can use manual access grants where appropriate.
How do AI provider costs work?
Astrabotix uses a Bring Your Own Key model for supported providers. Provider usage charges are billed separately through your provider account. Astrabotix does not add a markup to those provider token charges.
